Class of 2024

Shagufa Ali, MD
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at Lubbock, TX
I chose Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program, because it offers the perfect blend of in-depth training in a community setting with the most amazing, supportive residents and faculty. I think it is great that I can call the people I work with not only my co-residents but my friends. After residency, I plan to do outpatient medicine that includes outpatient procedures

Sypara Dhuka, MD
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at Lubbock, TX
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants, traveling, hiking, flying kites and being outdoors where I can be killed by mosquitos. My favorite thing about Houston is being close to family and friends and being a part of the BEST FM PROGRAM here and the diversity of culture. My non-medicine goal post-grad is to travel and get better at yoga (so I can finally touch my toes!). A medicine-related goal is to be a part of outpatient practice and have some time for global health as well.

Melissa Few, DO
UNT-HSC, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth, TX
Hi I am Melissa and I use she/her pronouns. Some of the MANY reasons I was drawn to this program was that everyone was so consistently friendly, the faculty was nurturing and intelligent, and I truly felt like I was accepted for who I was as a person. There is so much to do in Houston, like plenty of parks (I enjoy Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Park), never-ending boba tea, great food, the beach only an hour away, and 2 major airports to travel wherever you desire. After residency I plan on moving to New Jersey to join my S.O. as he finishes his residency training, where I will live my dreams of eating lots of bagels and collect as many continuity patients as I can muster up.

Tan Luu, MD
Texas A&M HSC College of Medicine, College Station, TX
I enjoy photography and climbing outside of residency! My favorite thing about Houston is the fact we get a lot of major concerts here! The best thing about this program besides the free food all day everyday and convenient parking is of course the residents! Everyone here is incredibly kind and always down to make awesome memories.

Kavya Mathur, DO
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at Lubbock, TX
My favorite part about Houston is the amazing diversity, culture, and food! I love trying new restaurants with my co-residents, family, and friends. My hobbies include watching sports (Go Virginia Tech Hokies!) or going to Houston Astros games. I was drawn to Memorial Hermann because of the people - everyone is very supportive and genuinely cares about your success in your personal and career goals.

Shivani Palakodaty, DO
Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Some of the factors about this program that initially interested me were that it is primarily unopposed, serves a diverse population with a large variety of challenging pathology, has robust inpatient training, and a multi-faceted curriculum that would prepare me for becoming a well-rounded physician. I had the opportunity to rotate here as a 4th-year medical student though and what drew me the most was the culture of this program and how welcoming, nurturing, and supportive the residents and faculty are; I knew this was the type of environment in which I would want to train.

Patrick Prazak, DO
UNT-HSC, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth, TX
I was drawn to Memorial Hermann because of the sports track, and I plan to do a Sports Fellowship when I finish. There are a lot of great opportunities to get sports experience and coverage. When not on shift, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two kids and two dogs, and I love talking and playing sports, especially baseball!

Brittnie Tran, DO
UNT-HSC, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth, TX
I am a huge foodie, and I love trying new restaurants! The food scene in Houston is so diverse, so I am always trying new cuisines. Other things I like to do include taking care of my many plants and hanging out with my co-residents!
